The Kootenai Synthesis Report presents information and learnings from five Northwest Power and Conservation Council Fish and Wildlife Program, Bonneville Power Administration Funded projects, administered by the Idaho Department of Fish and Game (IDFG) and the Kootenai Tribe of Idaho (KTOI). The five projects include the: Kootenai River Native Fish Conservation Aquaculture Program (KTOI, 1988-064-00); Kootenai River Resident Fish Mitigation (IDFG, 1988-065-00); Ecosystem Restoration Project (KTOI, 1994-049-00); Kootenai River Habitat Restoration Program (KTOI, 2002-002-00); and Kootenai River Floodplain Ecosystem Operational Loss Assessment, Protection, Mitigation, and Rehabilitation Project (KTOI, 2002-011-00). Each of these five projects contributes to the restoration and maintenance of a Kootenai Subbasin ecosystem characterized by robust, harvestable fish and wildlife populations, natural physical and biological conditions, and sustainable human communities.
